The Dangers of Conspiracy Theorist Extremist

Alex Jones recently appeared on the Piers Morgan Tonight. Personally, I agree with half of what Piers says most of the time, but I can respect his stance on Gun Control. I can also see why many as of late including Anderson Cooper has attacked fanatic conspiracy theorists. The recent shooting at Sandy Hook has sparked both outrage and fear from not only average everyday citizens, but from conspiracy theorists. The following are some of the theories from conspiracy websites, who I will not link to as I do not want to  generate traffic or entertain such non-sense:

Sandy Hook children are alive, not really dead.

Sandy Hook parents and children are actors.

Adam Lanza was a patsy for the government.

Adam Lanza was a mind control victim.

Sandy Hook principal is alive.

Sandy Hook child victim appears in photo with Obama after shooting.

Those are too just name a few and to an average person these are not only offensive, but delusional. They create a sense of worry and fear for the people who believe this whole-heartily. The evidence demonstrates that these children are dead. The evidence dictates that the killer, Adam Lanza, had a mental illness. The evidence that the believers of this theory provide are so weak that a four year old would simply laugh and walk away. In my opinion, events such as this one, the Aurora theater shooting, 9/11 and the Oklahoma City bombing have caused so much psychological damage that people do not know how to cope. Whether we know it or not we are all suffering with this tragedy. It shows the depth of humanity that we hope we never see and want to avoid. However, for those who do not know how to cope this becomes a game of blame and questioning. The events had to have happened differently… Or so many would think. We see that currently with the 9/11 truthers movement, which holds no basis for most of its conclusions. As a pattern seeking species, whenever a pattern is broken we either cope and deal with the event by following the actual events or we begin a search of false connections that lead to something bigger… Because this could NOT just have happened.

Let us take 9/11. I had vowed to myself to never use any examples of 9/11 as I remember that day clearly and watching the terror on the faces of people through the TV. It has marked my soul and my brain so deeply… The comparison that I want to use here involves the misinformation that many conspiracy theorist follow (please take note that when I use conspiracy theorist I am referring to extremist, not the moderates). The main one of misinformation that day was when tower 7 went down. Here is the same video that they cite:

And this is a counter report to that, here. In my opinion, I believe that the BBC confused the reports that it was going to fall with that it had fallen. In fact, no matter what it would have had to be taken down do to structural damage. And as the report in the former states:

What most likely, logically happened: While investigating and updating information on the collapse of the towers, someone at the BBC was given a report/press release that building 7 was going to collapse. [Edit: we now know they were monitoring the news from different outlets and that's where they learned of building 7.] According to the fire department, by 2:00PM they knew the building would soon collapse. Reporters KNEW this well before the collapse because there are videos of reporters talking about it before it happened. So we KNOW reporters were given information on WTC 7′s imminent demise. We can conclude from this evidence that the fire department relayed information to reporters that the building was going to collapse. By the time the report reached the reporter at the BBC, it may have simply been miscommunicated from “About to collapse” to “Has collapsed”. She even starts out by saying “Details are very, very sketchy”. That alone should put this to rest. She didn’t say ‘Sketchy’. She didn’t say ‘very sketchy’. She said “very, very sketchy”.

It wouldn’t be the first time reporters got something so completely wrong. They said it was a small plane at first, remember?

Continued- It would seem that we had the same incident this time at Sandy Hook, with multiple reports saying it was Adam’s Brother, Ryan Lanza. However, these reports were false. There were multiple other false reports that day that were later addressed. Here is a list of some of those inaccuracies, here. As we can see the inaccuracies and the eagerness to get ahead in the media made the reporting so botched that this created the PERFECT environment for conspiracy theorist to jump into the mix. Shortly after this calls for semi-automatic weapons to be restricted from average citizens went viral and it literally blew up from their. Anderson Cooper had some thoughts on this absolutely heartless theory:

Obviously, one can see, who has half of a brain that these thoughts are not in the realm of reality, but  the thing that concerns me the most  are that these theories are getting to the victims of the massacre  Imagine how they feel? And the conspiracy theorist are talking as they are experts and that what they say is DEFINITIVE. This is absolutely insane. I cannot fathom what the victims are going through. People need to understand that what they say on the internet will travel all over the world! All over! Including to the people that you have a theory about. I think people need to reach down and pull their hearts off the shelf and actually use them. How would they feel if people were saying that their children were not killed and that they are actors? I have asked these questions to them and they say that they are not in that situation and would not know how they would handle it… REALLY!!?? You would not know how you would handle complete strangers accusing you and your family of faking a massacre. Seems like a stretch to me. Of course, the biggest issue that came about was gun control laws and the need for better restrictions (NOT BANS, notice I did not say bans)… It reached a new height with the introduction of Alex Jones and the face off with Piers Morgan.

Alex Jones is the biggest conspiracy theorist out there. He is quite popular and spreads misinformation and disinformation throughout his radio show and his websites (which I will not link). This is the issue that Anderson Cooper had with conspiracy theorist. If you had seen the video then you know what Anderson Cooper and I have an issue with. It is the complete delusion of reality. They have this perception of complex and intricate idea’s that when closely examined fall apart. The main issue that I have is the influence that they have on their followers. The followers of Alex Jones are truly followers (And I am just using Alex Jones, because he has been in the news lately. I am not picking on Alex Jones). They believe probably about 90-100% of what he says and with this much influence; Alex Jones does nothing more then perpetrate fear to the masses. Eventually, and I think Anderson may carry the same fear that I have which is that eventually one of these fanatic Conspiracy theorist is going to be pushed to far and do something absolutely terrible. But that blood would not be on Alex Jones’s hands or anyone’s hands, we cannot blame them for using the first Amendment that is why it is their, but we must strengthen education and increase public awareness of information. It is important to hear more then one side of the story and I am sure that everyone would agree. Sometimes conspiracy  theorist become trapped in their paranoia and then…everything is a conspiracy. Victims become and feel violated. Nothing is to be trusted, because it is ALL controlled by the bankers and the elite! Nothing happens in accordance with free will, everything is a conspiracy. Nothing is without hard calculations and planning. These are some of the dangers of extremism in regards to conspiracy theories….
